Homemade Fajita Seasoning Mix

Today, we present an ironclad case for Homemade Fajita Seasoning Mix. Did you know that the leading pre-made packets of fajita seasoning contain corn syrup solids, corn starch, artificial coloring, and something called corn maltodextrin (which your body absorbs as glucose)? Plus, they contain up to 2,000 mg sodium. All so you can have drippy, soupy fajitas that are an assault on the taste buds.

Enough is enough. It takes less than five minutes to make
Homemade Fajita Seasoning Mix at home (and it makes killer chicken fajitas). You control the sodium and replace the corn syrup with Swerve Granular Sweetener or Lakanto Classic Sweetener for zero glycemic index impact. Sorry, packet bros, you lose.

Instructions

  1. For a smooth texture, measure then run the oregano through a spice grinder before mixing. Combine all ingredients together in a small bowl or jar, then whisk or shake to combine.
  2. Makes amazing chicken fajitas and is also an excellent dry rub for beef and pork. To use as a rub, generously season meat on all sides then let sit 1-2 hours before cooking.

Notes

Use smoked paprika and a pinch of ground chipotle chile pepper for a smoky rub that is excellent on grilled meat.

Double to make a larger batch and store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

Note: We omit salt from this recipe, so you will want to salt food to taste when cooking.
